Description
With an electric motor on the back of the boat, you can enjoy a boat trip without rowing. The Outwave XP electric outboard motor is light, quiet and easy to install and use. With a pulling force of 24 lbs, it is ideal for small to medium sized inflatable boats and dinghies.
- Ideal electric motor for inflatable boats for 2-3 people
- Your boat can reach a speed of about 5 km/h
An electric outboard motor, or a whisper motor, has many advantages: lightweight, easy to maintain and better for the environment. In addition, the Outwave XP24 whisper motor is particularly quiet, perfect for fishermen or when you want to enjoy a quiet boat trip through nature. The Outwave XP24 is easy to control: you can use two buttons to select the sailing direction (forward or backward) and the acceleration (slow or fast). The Outwave XP24 motor comes without a battery and battery charger, so don't forget to order these.
- Quiet whisper motor
- For inflatable boats and kayaks
- Can sail in two gears
- Suitable for mounting on the stern
- Suitable for mounting on a mirror or motor mount
- Traction: 24 lbs (≈ 1 - 1.5 hp)

- Max. boat height: 39 cm
- Average speed: 4 to 5 km/hour
- Gears: 4 (2 forward and reverse)
- Required battery: from 36Ah (12V)
The Outwave XP24 has a pulling force of 24 lbs, which equates to a maximum sailing weight of:
480 kg
Please note: this sailing weight includes the boat, passengers and all items in the boat.
Suitable for your boat?
Is the Outwave XP24 outboard powerful enough for your boat? For this we look at the engine's thrust. The higher the thrust, the more weight the outboard motor can push into the water. This XP24 motor has a thrust of 24 lbs, which allows it to displace a maximum weight of 480 kg in the water. Does your boat, including passengers and everything you want to take with you, weigh no more than 480 kg? Then the Outwave XP24 is the perfect outboard motor for you.
Battery
For the Outwave XP24 motor, you need a 12 volt battery that is strong enough to produce 24 lbs of thrust. Choose a battery with a capacity of 36 amps/hour or higher, for example this 38Ah battery . However, a battery capacity of 36 amps/hour is the minimum; the higher the power, the further you will be able to sail. Note that you also need a battery charger to charge the battery after sailing.
Sailing speed
The XP24 is a perfect electric motor for quiet cruising. The exact sailing speed you achieve with the XP24 is difficult to state. The sailing speed depends on many factors such as the wind, the current, the weight of the boat, the gear you are sailing in, etc. However, you can assume an average speed of 4 to 5 km/h. You don't need a boat license to sail with this electric outboard motor.
Installation on the boat
You can attach the Outwave XP motor to the boat in two different ways, depending on the type of boat you have. You can either secure it with the mounting shank or clamp it.
✔ Mounting stem : you attach this to the intended loops on the back of the boat
✔ Clamping : on the transom or engine support, by tightening the mounting bolts
Many inflatables do not have mounting loops or a mirror on the back of the boat. Then you need a motor mount: a solid plank that you mount on the back of the boat, to which you can then clamp the outboard motor.
