Intex sand filter pump uses filter sand or glass beads to filter the pool water . A big advantage is that this requires very little maintenance. Unlike filter cartridges that need to be replaced every two weeks, filter sand or glass beads last for years. The sand filter pump is also a very powerful pool pump, and is therefore ideal if you want to use additional pool accessories such as solar heating or a heat pump. And with the built-in timer function, you can schedule the operation of the filter pump; at night for example so you can dive into a wonderfully clean pool the next day. Very handy!

Clean filtered pool water
Intex sand filter pump filters the pool water cleanly . In the filter pump, the pool water is pumped through a bed of sand. All dirt remains stuck in the sand. Every dirt particle larger than a grain of sand is sifted from the water, after which the clean water is pumped back into the pool. At the same time, this pumping ensures that the pool water is constantly moving, giving algae, bacteria and fungi much less opportunity to develop (these grow particularly well in stagnant water).
With 6 useful functions
For optimal cleaning of your pool, the Intex sand filter pump is equipped with 6 different functions. In addition to the standard filter function, there is, for example, 'backwash', which flushes away all accumulated dirt from the sand bed so that the sand filter pump can filter at full power again. Or the circulation mode, which pumps the water around but does not filter it, ideal for certain water treatments. And the drain function, which sucks and drains the water from the pool, very useful when you want to empty your pool after the season.
For which pools?
Whether this pump is suitable for your pool depends mainly on the pool size. A sand filter pump must be able to filter all the water in 4 to 5 hours, only then will there be enough circulation to keep the pool clean. The Intex 6 m³ sand filter pump is therefore suitable for swimming pools up to a maximum of 30,000 litres. Note that when you connect pool accessories to the pump, such as a salt water system or pool heater, this will create additional resistance for the pump. In that case, you may need a sand filter pump with a higher pumping capacity.
Connection to the pool
You install the sand filter pump between the pool's inlet and outlet. All Intex swimming pools have either a 32mm connection or a 38mm connection. This sand filter pump has a Ø 38 mm connection. Does your pool have a Ø 38 mm connection? Then you have received all the necessary connection parts for the pool (including inlet and outlet kit 38 mm or connection kit 38 mm), so you do not need to buy any additional parts. However, do you have a pool with a Ø 32 mm connection? Then you need two Intex connectors and a 32mm inlet and outlet kit to make everything fit.
Glass beads or filter balls instead of filter sand
At Zwembadgigant, we recommend that you fill the filter pump with glass beads or filter balls instead of sand. Glass beads last 80% longer than filter sand and clean the pool water more effectively. In addition, it is much less often necessary to rinse the sand bed ("backwash") and you use less pool water for this. Filter balls also purify pool water more effectively than sand, and are also much easier and more practical to use. To fill this Intex sand filter pump, you need 16 kg of glass beads or 640 grams of filter balls .
